Life for high school student Ichigo Kurosaki is relatively normal, besides the fact that he has always been able to see ghosts. Despite that, it hasn't affected his life much - not until he meets Rukia Kuchiki. She is a member of the Soul Society, who's members are soul reapers and their objective is to destroy hollows, evil spirits that prey on humans. When he meets Rukia, a hollow attacks him and his family. In order to save them, Rukia offers to lend him some of her reaper powers. He agrees, but to both of their surprise, Ichigo absorbs all of Rukia's powers, thus becoming a full fledged soul reaper. Thus, he is propelled into the world of the spiritual and must fight to defeat as many hollows as possible.
